Atlanta Dryer Vent Cleaning Services

The dryer is an appliance that could be found virtually in every home and is the one machine in the house that gets the most frequent use throughout the week.  The function of your dryer is to extract the heat and moisture out of your clothes while at the same time, exhausting it through a vent that leads to the outside, whether on your main floor, upstairs or downstairs.  Dryer vents duct work can be installed into long distances with bends in order to reach the outside of the home.  The bad side is that this can create more places for lint to get trapped into and where birds have a tendency to create nests.

At Atlanta Air Pro, we not only your Atlanta air duct cleaning experts, but are specialists in dryer vent cleaning as well.  Cleaning your dryer vent is beneficial for safety reasons and economical reasons as well.  Not many people know that dryer vent cleaning can significantly reduce the risk of a dryer vent fire while improving the efficiency of the dryer which in turn, contributes to lowering your utility costs.

According to the Atlanta U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, there are an estimated annual 15,500 fires, 10 deaths, 10 injuries and cases of carbon monoxide poisoning associated with improper maintenance of dryer vents.  The financial costs come to nearly $100,000,000 per year. In many cases, injuries and death can be prevented with proper dryer vent cleaning. Not cleaning your dryer vent is a risk you should not be willing to take.

According to the Fire Department, your dryer vent exhaust duct should be cleaned professionally at least once a year.  At Atlanta Air Pro, we offer yearly maintenance plans so that you never have to worry about them again.

Problems associated with Clogged or Dirty Dryer Vents:

• Carbon Monoxide:  Gas dryers that do not exhaust correctly can cause carbon monoxide back up

• Fire & Property Damage:  Your dryer lint can ignite as a result of overheating and start fires

• Obsructions:  Anything from dryer sheets, lint, socks and even bird nests can clog air flow

• Wear & Tear:  A dryer that takes twice as long to dry clothes will cut it's lifespan by half

• Appliance Efficiency:  A clogged vent will waste energy, time and money.

Our service will bring you back peace of mind not to mention money in your pocket in the long run.  We offer a hassle-free, no mess cleaning with our state of the art equipment.  When we arrive to your home, we will begin by inspecting your dryer and where it vents out to.  The Consumer Product Safety Commission released a safety report called Overheated Clothes Dryers Can Cause Fires. It states in the report to "check the dryer vent and exhaust vent periodically to ensure that exhaust air is escaping.

How Often Should You Clean Your Dryer Vents?

The Chimney Safety Institute "recommends a annual inspection to ensure efficient operation of your clothes dryer system." The Consumer Product Safety Commission states in their report to "check the dryer vent and exhaust vent periodically to ensure that exhaust air is escaping."

Every vent is installed differently; it can depend on the length of your vent, how many turns and how often the dryer is used every week. Always watch for these warning signs, your dyer getting hotter than normal, clothes taking longer to dry, and if the dryer is cutting off before the clothes are dry.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

How is the Lint Removed from my Dryer Vent?

There are several different applications depending on how your dryer is situated. The most common technique is with the help of the blower motor we use very flexible extension rods with a bristle brush on the end. The rods will easily navigate several 90 degree turns in your vent line.

This is on a rotor system so the spin action of the brush really gives the vent a thorough cleaning. The technician will move the rod/brush in and out repeatedly until the vent is clear of lint and obstructions.

The most common way is done from the outside which keeps your home spotless. This is an extremely effective method to give your dyer vent a clearer passage for the moist hot air to move through.

What Happens to the Old Worn Out Hose Behind My Dryer?

We can offer you a new transition hose and even install it for you.  We often see the white vinyl vent coming out the back of dryers we service. This type of vent pipe is very highly flammable and causes dangerous fumes when burning.

Our trucks are equipped to completely replace an old unsafe dryer vent with a new semi rigid metal vent where needed in most cases.
